Position Summary
Cerro Flow Products LLC (a Marmon Holdings company, backed by Berkshire Hathaway) seeks a Quality Assurance Technician to make and print certificates from daily bills of lading, perform quality audits on samples from furnaces, shears, Level Wind Coilers, Groovers, and Super Coilers, and conduct physical testing of finished products. The role includes maintenance of analytical equipment, logbook management, and support for all shifts.
Responsibilities- Make and print certificates from daily bills of lading.
- Perform daily LWCs and Shear quality audits; conduct Groovers and Super Coiler audits as needed.
- Conduct physical testing of finished products, including dimensional checks with a micrometer versus spec, Rockwell hardness tests, grain evaluations, and pull tests as required by the customer.
- Check furnaces at least every hour for product loading, temperature, and speed.
- Perform quarterly micrometer testing of the operator and provide refresher training as needed.
- Assist operators by answering questions and providing guidance.
- Tag material in question until first shift review and determine necessary corrections or alternate customer fit.
- Perform additional duties as needed, such as record keeping, cleaning, and filing.
- Make decisions on whether material meets customer specifications and communicate non‑conforming items to the Lead; facilitate corrective actions and document details (e.g., coil numbers, measurements, block and pan runs).
Determine if material does not meet specifications, inform the Lead, and ensure corrective steps are taken. When additional guidance is needed, bring coils to the QA lab with appropriate labeling and document measurements and run data.
Qualifications- High school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent with at least two years of experience in quality assurance or manufacturing (preferred).
- Strong analytical ability and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with production, maintenance, sales personnel, engineering, vendors, and customers.
Physical Requirements
General manufacturing environment with minimal physical requirements. 60% desk work and 40% floor activities. Flexible with work hours to provide assistance to all shifts when necessary. Position is a 3rd Shift (8:00pm–6:00am).
