Quality Engineer

Location: Sedalia, MO

Job Overview

Step into a Quality Engineer role with Gardner Denver - Industrial Technology and Services, LLC, a division of Ingersoll Rand, where your work directly impacts product performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence at our Sedalia operation. You’ll help ensure products meet exacting quality standards while supporting the transformation of metal castings and raw materials into high‑performing products used around the world.

In this highly collaborative role, you’ll serve as a key problem‑solving partner across manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, customer service, warranty, and purchasing. Using the plant Quality Management System, you’ll respond to quality issues, lead root cause analysis, identify risks, and drive corrective and preventive actions that strengthen product reliability, reduce defects, and support continuous improvement across the plant.

Responsibilities
  • Process Development and Improvement:
    Develop, implement, and document process improvements to ensure quality and reliability; lead quality projects for new product introductions and proactively correct production concerns.
  • Documentation:
    Initiate and maintain documentation supporting process and manufacturing improvements (e.g., Process Control, Inspection logs, Visual Work Instructions, ECN’s).
  • Quality:
    Develop and maintain departmental procedures supporting ISO certification; participate in internal and external audits and support corrective actions.
  • Suppliers:
    Investigate quality issues on the production floor or at customer sites, communicate with suppliers on non‑conforming material, and manage supplier corrective actions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant quality experience (in lieu of a bachelor’s degree).
  • 3+ years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years experience with MS Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills.
  • 1+ year experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar platforms.
Core Competencies
  • Quality Systems & Compliance:
    Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and support quality procedures, documentation, and plant‑level quality systems aligned with ISO certification, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Structured Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
    Ability to respond to quality issues as they occur, investigate non‑conformances, apply root cause analysis tools, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Process Improvement & Manufacturing Support:
    Experience identifying production concerns, developing and documenting process improvements, and partnering with manufacturing teams.
  • Cross‑Functional & Supplier

    Collaboration:

    Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, customer service, warranty, purchasing, and suppliers.
  • Documentation, Data & Systems Proficiency:
    Strong ability to create, maintain, and manage quality documentation, including process controls, inspection logs, visual work instructions, ECNs, and corrective action records, utilizing MS Office, Excel, and ERP systems.
Preferences
  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college with relevant quality engineering experience.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • ASQ certification (e.g., CQT, CQE, CQM, or CRE).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Travel and Work Arrangements
  • Base onsite in Sedalia, MO.
  • Travel anticipated is less than 10%.
