is seeking a full-time Quality and Safety Lead in St. John’s, NL
.

Reporting to the Senior Quality and Safety Manager, this role supports the continuous improvement of safety and quality programs, including the Safety Management System, Quality Assurance Program, IOSA activities, and related certification requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Administer and support PAL Airlines’ safety reporting system, including review and monitoring of reports, hazards, incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Support SMS investigations, safety meetings, Management of Change activities, trend analysis, and management review preparation.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of SMS, Quality, audit, and reporting procedures, tools, forms, and processes.
  • Conduct and support internal quality and safety audits against company procedures, regulatory requirements, IOSA standards, BARS requirements, and other applicable criteria.
  • Prepare audit plans, checklists, sampling plans, evidence requests, reports, summaries, and follow-up documentation.
  • Support PAL Airlines’ IOSA activities, internal audit program, audit readiness, IATA coordination, and assigned Audit Program responsibilities.
  • Support Air Borealis SMS and Quality Program activities related to BARS certification requirements.
  • Work with departmental managers and operational leaders to communicate findings, expectations, corrective action requirements, and follow-up items.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive action tracking, validation, closure, and documentation for audits, safety reports, investigations, and quality follow-up items.
  • Support report classification, hazard identification, root cause analysis, risk assessment, ownership assignment, and effectiveness review of safety risk controls.
  • Act as a safety and quality resource for employees while promoting proactive reporting, hazard identification, and a Just Culture-based reporting environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, impartiality, and objectivity when handling safety, quality, audit, investigation, and reporting information.
  • Provide subject matter support for applicable IOSA areas, including Dispatch, Cargo, Ground Operations, and related operational functions.
  • Follow applicable company manuals, SMS and Quality procedures, audit program requirements, Transport Canada requirements, IOSA standards, IATA requirements, and BARS requirements.
  • Complete other duties as assigned in support of the Quality, Safety, SMS, and audit programs.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education and/or an acceptable combination of education, training, and related experience.
  • Experience in commercial flight operations, aircraft maintenance operations, or ground handling operations.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, quality assurance, audit processes, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and risk management is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Transport Canada and IATA quality assurance requirements.
  • Previous IOSA auditing experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience auditing SMS processes and assessing the effectiveness of safety risk controls is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and objectivity.
