Position Summary:
The Associate Director – Global Advocacy & Policy Research (AD-GAPR) is a senior leadership role within Fòs Feminista’s Global Advocacy for Change Unit, responsible for strengthening advocacy at national, regional, and global levels through rigorous political analysis, evidence generation, and strategic coordination.
Reporting to the Chief Global Advocacy Officer, the Associate Director supports unit-wide leadership across advocacy strategy, program development, donor engagement, and internal coordination, while leading the organization’s policy research and evidence agenda. The role works in close partnership with Associate Director – Global Advocacy & Project Management, Senior Global Advocacy Officers (SGAO) and Global Advocacy Officers (GAO) to ensure evidence‑based advocacy strategies are implemented at national, regional, and global levels.
ReportingRelationship:
Reports to the Chief Global Advocacy Officer and supervises a Senior Global Advocacy Officer and/or Global Advocacy Officer.
Policy Research, Evidence, and Knowledge Leadership- Lead Fòs Feminista’s policy research and evidence agenda, ensuring high-quality, feminist, and decolonial analysis that informs advocacy goals at all levels.
- Oversee the development and execution of multi‑year and annual research priorities through partnerships with partners, academic institutions, research firms or consultants.
- Support and collaborate with Alliance partners to develop transnational technical and policy research aligned with the organization’s strategic plan on key sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice (SRHRJ) issues, including HIV and AIDS, family planning, maternal health, abortion, comprehensive sexuality education, economic justice, climate change, the anti‑gender movement, and related intersecting issues.
- Research, write, analyse, and support the supervision of Fòs Feminista research outputs, including policy briefs, research reports, fact sheets, blogs, op‑eds, literature reviews and other advocacy‑focused publications.
- Lead the dissemination of advocacy knowledge and evidence through a range of platforms including academic and policy journals, blogs, podcasts, webinars and other public‑facing formats, to extend the reach, accessibility, and influence of Fòs Feminista’s feminist analysis among policymakers, movements and thought leaders in collaboration with the Communication team.
- Provide technical input into the creation of knowledge products generated from project implementation insights in collaboration with the project implementation team and the Business Intelligence, Evaluation and Research (BIER) team.
- Support the team by searching and suggesting evidence (program reports, analysis, academic papers, etc.) to support case‑making, arguments and position papers to support advocacy and influencing strategies.
- Maintain and curate a centralized database of policy research resources, including relevant academic institutions and programs, potential research collaborators and dissemination outlets, to support strategic partnerships, knowledge sharing and future research opportunities.
- Coordinate the tracking and reporting on the reach and impact of Fòs Feminista’s policy research, including how evidence and knowledge products contribute to shaping advocacy strategies, influencing policy debates and advancing outcomes at national, regional, and global levels for reporting into the organization’s accountability and learning framework.
- Serve as the focal point for the Centre for Evidence‑Based Advocacy, leading efforts to strengthen Alliance capacity by setting learning priorities, supporting the design and delivery of capacity‑sharing initiatives and overseeing the development of practical resources and learning products for Alliance members.
- Systematically gather and share emerging and relevant evidence, including program reports, analyses and academic research, to strengthen Alliance partners’ awareness and use of existing and new evidence in support of their advocacy efforts.
