Associate Research Specialist – Kuo Lab – Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Mon–Fri: 8:30am – 5:00pm or 9:00am – 5:30pm
Purpose Statement / Position SummaryThe Kuo Lab at CHLA seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our research program as an Associate Research Specialist. The ideal candidate should be able to follow protocols accurately, maintain meticulous records, and effectively present data and results to the research team. This role also offers the opportunity to learn and apply techniques essential to molecular biology and cancer biology studies.
Responsibilities- Perform basic molecular biology work, including DNA extraction/isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing prep, RNA extraction, qRT‑PCR, protein extraction/quantification, enzyme assays, cell culture, and microscopy/imaging.
- Receive training in the use of zebrafish models and apply them in research investigating the tumor immune microenvironment of Ewing sarcoma.
- Assist in the maintenance and execution of laboratory protocols and record keeping.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Preferred: 1+years performing laboratory research.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with animals in a research setting is highly valued; background in molecular and cancer biology is preferred.
- Willingness to receive training for those lacking specific experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field (biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering) completed by the anticipated start date.
Pay ScaleUSD $43,680.00–$61,953.00 per year.
