Job OverviewThe Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) leads the development and execution of projects for on‑market and/or pipeline development assets, representing HEOR on cross‑functional asset/brand teams and the pipeline commercialization teams. The director is accountable for HEOR strategies and execution for at least one asset and/or indication for US or international. The director may have 1-2 full‑time direct reports.
Responsibilities- Oversees the design and conduct of projects and effectively communicates the findings and strategic impact to internal and external audiences.
- Provides product leadership to HEOR strategic direction consistent with business goals established in conjunction with the appropriate cross‑functional partners.
- Ensures project plan integrates and aligns with the product strategic plans from matrix teams as well as commercial interests, provides updates, owns and shares decisions, and generates buy‑in.
- Accountable for end‑to‑end delivery of the HEOR book of work under their remit, from strategy development to content pull‑through.
- Maintains strong partnership with relevant HEOR COE functions to ensure a comprehensive HEOR voice is represented in cross‑functional meetings.
- Demonstrates executive presence and ability to engage with senior leaders in a cross‑functional setting.
- Advanced degree in health economics or related discipline.
- Minimum of seven years of working experience; with a Master’s, five years with a Ph.D., including fellowship experience. Professional training in a health field (MD, PharmD, etc.) is a plus.
- Preferred:
Ph.D. in Economics, Econometrics, or (pharmaco) epidemiology, or any related field with at least three years of relevant experience. Clinical research experience strongly recommended; experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred. - Three or more years of clinical development experience in the pharmaceutical industry, CRO, academia, or other health‑related consulting company, plus expert knowledge in a relevant therapeutic specialty.
- Proven leadership skills in a cross‑functional global team environment, with ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy.
- Ability to perform in uncharted territory with few or no established guidelines, and to navigate complex governmental rules and regulations.
- Skill in developing creative solutions to inter‑ and intra‑project priority conflicts and resource constraints.
- High goal‑orientation with a focus on solutions rather than problems during drug development cycles.
- Extensive knowledge of the global regulatory, HTA and PR&A landscape and understanding of other development‑related functions across all phases of drug development.
- Ability to lead a cross‑functional team and manage scientific personnel in clinical research, interacting successfully with senior management globally and acting as the HEOR project/group champion and spokesperson.
- Self‑starter with a strong desire to see projects achieve commercial success.
- The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and the Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
