Formulation Chemist
The Formulation Chemist supports the development, evaluation, and optimization of agricultural formulations through laboratory experimentation, testing, and analysis. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, hands-on laboratory experience, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research and development environment. The successful candidate will contribute to formulation development activities while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, develop, and evaluate agricultural chemical formulations in a laboratory setting.
- Conduct physical property and stability testing, including analysis of viscosity, density, particle size, suspension stability, and other formulation performance characteristics.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory-scale mixing, blending, milling, and related formulation processing equipment.
- Accurately collect, analyze, document, and communicate experimental data, observations, and results.
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with formulation scientists, project teams, and cross-functional partners to support product development objectives.
- Assist with formulation optimization efforts by identifying technical challenges and recommending potential solutions.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work spaces in accordance with organizational standards.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities and timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience in formulation development, product development, chemical testing, or a related technical environment.
- Strong understanding of chemical principles and laboratory practices.
- Hands-on experience performing physical property testing, including viscosity, density, stability, and related analytical evaluations.
- Experience operating laboratory-scale mixing, blending, milling, or particle size reduction equipment.
- Proven ability to accurately record experimental procedures, data, and observations.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of formulation development concepts, particularly within agricultural chemicals, crop protection products, specialty chemicals, coatings, or related industries.
- Experience supporting research and development projects from concept through laboratory validation.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, formulation characterization techniques, and laboratory data management systems.

This is a contract position based out of Chesterfield, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
