About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Research Technician to support innovative preclinical research and product development programs. In this role, you will partner with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to execute laboratory studies, collect and document critical research data, and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge medical technologies.
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across wet lab research, preclinical testing, animal studies, and laboratory operations within a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. Approximately 50% of the role will involve direct execution of testing protocols and research activities.
Key Responsibilities- Execute laboratory and preclinical testing activities in accordance with established SOPs and study protocols.
- Perform hands-on bench and wet lab techniques to support ongoing research projects.
- Collect, analyze, and accurately document experimental and study data.
- Maintain detailed research records and ensure compliance with documentation standards (GDP).
- Support inventory management, sample tracking, and laboratory logistics.
- Assist with preclinical animal studies, including direct interaction and handling of awake pigs.
- Troubleshoot laboratory procedures, equipment, and testing workflows.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, research staff, and external partners to ensure successful project execution.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance research efficiency and quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Life Sciences, Zoology, Physiology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Hands-on wet lab experience obtained through industry, academic research, CRO, diagnostic, biotechnology, medical device, or animal research settings.
- Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Animal handling and animal research experience.
- Ability to accurately execute protocols, document experiments, and manage study data.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Veterinary Technician experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting preclinical or translational research programs.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel locally on an occasional basis.
- Fully onsite position.
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Collaborative team environment consisting of engineers, researchers, and laboratory professionals.
- Combination of laboratory, office, and preclinical research activities.
- Regular involvement with animal studies, including work with awake pigs.
- Occasional local travel to nearby testing or research facilities may be required.
- Contribute to meaningful preclinical research that supports the development of innovative healthcare solutions.

- Work alongside experienced scientists, engineers, and industry professionals.

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
