As a Regulatory and Policy Science Intern at Bayer Crop Science, you gain learning opportunities and practical experience in how scientific evidence informs regulatory and policy discussions related to innovations such as biotechnology, genome editing, and microbials at national and international levels;
In this role, your internship is tailored to your needs, background, and interests, giving you exposure to regulatory agencies, policy-making processes, stakeholder engagement, and the development of regulatory policy documents that shape Bayer’s innovation landscape;
You contribute to meaningful work that helps translate complex science into clear, impactful positions while collaborating in an inclusive, mission-driven environment focused on sustainable agriculture and responsible innovation.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build an understanding of the U.S. agencies involved in regulation of products relevant to Bayer Crop Science’s portfolio, including the structure and organization of EPA, USDA, FDA, and the Coordinated Framework for the Regulation of Biotechnology;
  • Support the preparation of comments on Federal Register requests such as Proposed Rules, Requests for Information, and other proposed policy changes;
  • Learn how regulatory policies are developed, updated, and implemented through guidance documents, regulations, memoranda, and legislative processes;
  • Develop an understanding of the role of industry associations, academics, and other stakeholders in regulatory and policy discussions;
  • Review and draft regulatory policy documents, including comment submissions, case studies, briefing materials, presentations, and internal position papers;
  • Contribute to the translation of complex scientific principles and ideas into clear, relatable messages that support Bayer’s regulatory and policy positions.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Undergraduate student (minimum junior level) or holder of a bachelor’s degree in a life science‑based discipline;
  • Strong science writing, presentation, and communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex scientific principles and ideas into simple, relatable messages;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues outside of the immediate team;
  • Students in a graduate program preferred, with some experience performing research in the lab or field desired;
  • Intention to return to an academic program or pursue an advanced degree following completion of the internship.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
