Postdoctoral Fellow - Viral Oncology and Molecular Biology
Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. The position is available immediately.
The successful candidate will investigate how Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human papillomavirus (HPV) and host-cell pathways contribute to cancer development and progression. The research integrates molecular and cellular biology, next-generation sequencing, pathology, and small-animal models. The fellow will have opportunities to lead independent projects, prepare manuscripts, present findings at scientific meetings, contribute to grant applications, and mentor junior trainees.
Responsibilities may include:
- Designing and conducting experiments involving mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, cloning, mutagenesis, western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, FISH, flow cytometry, and DNA/RNA sequencing.
- Conducting small-animal studies, including breeding and colony coordination, animal monitoring, dosing or inoculation, specimen collection, necropsy, tissue processing, and maintenance of accurate colony and experimental records.
- Analyzing and interpreting data, presenting research progress, preparing manuscripts, and collaborating with other investigators.
Experience in viral oncology, cancer models, animal colony management, flow cytometry, pathology, next-generation sequencing, or bioinformatics is preferred but not required.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in molecular biology, virology, immunology, cancer biology, pathology, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in molecular and cellular biology.
- Practical experience with small-animal models and willingness to participate actively in colony-related research activities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment.
