Role
Senior scientific leader in Gilead's Virology Department, focusing on herpes virus research and antiviral drug discovery targeting viruses linked to autoimmune, inflammatory, and immunocompromised conditions.
Responsibilities- oversee and advance antiviral programs from target identification to candidate selection
- lead in vitro virology studies, develop assays, interpret data, troubleshoot complex challenges
- evaluate emerging antiviral concepts, mentor scientists, and contribute to scientific publications and regulatory submissions
- BS with 10+ years, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant research experience in virology, immunology, or microbiology
- demonstrated expertise in virology with independent research success
- mentoring experience preferred
- postdoctoral training plus 6+ years industry experience
- expertise in herpes viruses, immunology, and viral disease models
- experience in drug discovery and preclinical development
- extensive hands-on assay development and cell-based virology skills
- proven track record in program advancement, publications, patents, or technological innovations
