Job DescriptionThe Food Service Sub will support daily food service operations, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and high‑quality dining experience for students, staff, and visitors.
Position DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Food Service Sub
FLSA: Non‑Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accurately count, weigh, and measure ingredients.
- Follow instructions and take initiative in the performance of assigned tasks.
- Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, and squat on a constant basis.
- Lift a minimum of 51 pounds up to 33 inches occasionally.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work in a hot, humid environment.
- Must be able to work in a cold, or below‑zero environment for a short period.
REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As needed
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSInteract with staff, students, faculty, visitors, and co‑workers in a pleasant and professional manner.
Use techniques outlined in recipes or as instructed (chopping, dicing, mixing, slicing, etc.) to assist with food preparation.
Wash pots, pans, and other items using a dishwasher or a three‑compartment sink.
Place menu and a‑la‑carte foods on the serving line and assemble the appropriate serving utensils.
Monitor temperature of food and beverage prior to service and report unsafe temperatures to the manager and take appropriate corrective actions.
Serve food according to recipe portions or as instructed.
Disassemble serving line and clean the serving area.
Discard or properly store leftover foods.
Perform all tasks in accordance with HACCP guidelines.
Remove garbage from trash receptacles and insert new bags.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONSReport to work at scheduled time with proper uniform and appropriately groomed.
Assist in unpacking boxes, stocking storeroom or coolers, pulling food items from storeroom, and other inventory management duties as assigned.
Perform cleaning tasks as assigned.
Adhere to all school district and building rules and regulations.
Utilize proper hand washing techniques.
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and seminars as scheduled.
