Job Description

A Store Manager is a friendly, enthusiastic person who enjoys serving and leading teammates. This role is responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the company. The Store Manager supervises day-to-day store activities, ensures overall store performance, identifies staffing needs, manages schedules, and develops operational action plans while mentoring and developing the team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently demonstrate the Woods Supermarket D&E service and Hospitality 4
  • Supervise day-to-day operations and performance of the team to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Understand and communicate the core values of the organization to foster teamwork
  • Handle guest concerns and ensure appropriate resolution
  • Maintain proper store signage and the quality and freshness of products
  • Oversee hiring by reviewing applications and interviewing candidates
  • Prepare, manage, and revise weekly schedules to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations
  • Conduct store meetings and identify training opportunities
  • Perform regular performance evaluations and recommend advancement or actions as appropriate
  • Manage payroll and budgets; monitor total loss
  • Conduct cash audits according to guidelines
  • Monitor the competitive environment and advise adjustments when needed
  • Provide product feedback to leadership on new or discontinued items
  • Provide a safe environment for teammates, guests, and vendors by addressing hazards and maintaining equipment
  • Oversee product merchandising and stock levels
  • Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations
  • Comply with company policies and protect the confidentiality of documents and data
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment
  • Grocery store setting with variations in temperature and conditions; some outdoor work may be required
Job Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous guest service
  • Ability to develop rapport and open communication to enhance performance
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies
  • Ability to establish goals and guide teammate performance
  • Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
  • Ability to manage budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and perform general cleaning to company standards
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task with attention to detail
  • Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
  • Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
  • Prior management experience required
Physical Demands

This position requires regular performance of movements such as sit, stand, stoop, squat, bend, reach, push, pull, grip, twist, lift, climb, carry, walk, and kneel. The role may require lifting weights up to documented limits and operating equipment as described in the job description; employees must meet the minimum physical capacity and perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
