Sales Associate

Overview

Break Time Sales Associates assist customers, process sales transactions, and perform operational and food preparation duties necessary to keep the Break Time convenience store clean and well stocked while following all company policies and procedures for efficient operation during the scheduled shift. Sales Associates are energetic individuals who believe it only takes a moment to make your day better.

• Consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer; provide fast and friendly customer service; conduct accurate and efficient transactions; handle customer concerns quickly and courteously.
• Perform all merchandising activities including proper pricing, promotion implementation, suggestive selling, vendor check‑in, and keeping merchandise stocked, clean, fronted, and faced (including the cooler); maintain store cleanliness.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with customers, vendors, employees, and management regarding all aspects of store operations.
• Work as a team to efficiently and effectively serve customers while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations related to all job responsibilities and duties.
• Utilize store technology, including point‑of‑sale systems, desktop and laptop computers, and handheld devices; perform mathematical calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and count product.
• Help train new employees on company policies and procedures; perform loss‑control functions related to cash handling, lottery sales and redemptions, food waste, employee purchases, and merchandise sales; remain alert and report concerns appropriately.
• Follow food‑preparation guidelines, recipes, and job aids; inspect products for correct time, temperature, cleanliness, rotation, portioning, and pricing; use ovens, roller grill, fryer, and other kitchen tools for food service.
• Sanitize and maintain equipment, dishes, and food service area; follow standards for quality, service, cleanliness, food safety, proper product display, and storage; clean the store when time allows.
• Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to company and position‑specific policies and procedures.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Friendly, customer‑service oriented, enjoys a fast‑paced work environment.
• Flexible availability to work weekends and holidays.
• Reliable transportation to work.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations for change, shift reports, and product accounting.
• Capability to learn new concepts, use technical materials, and consistently operate a computer and office productivity machinery.
• Willingness to attend food‑safety training and obtain a Food Handler’s Card or equivalent certification.
• Physical ability to move and position products in a cooler (30°F) for up to one hour and in a freezer (0°F). Ability to move and retrieve items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for up to nine hours per shift.
• Skill to observe and inspect items and the work environment for safety and quality.
• Willingness to use ladders for inventory or product handling as needed.
• Perform assigned tasks with accuracy and minimal supervision.
• Speak, read, write, and understand English to communicate effectively with customers and supervisors.
• Undergo successful pre‑employment background check and drug test.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service, retail sales, or food service.
