Overview

Meat and Seafood Specialist — Full Time, Mid Level to Master. Reports Directly To:
Meat Department Manager. Pyramid Foods believes in supporting local communities and providing quality food and service at the best prices. In a friendly, flexible team environment, you will provide high quality meat and seafood products with expert knowledge, meeting cut, trim, or prepared portions for customers in a clean, friendly atmosphere.

• Providing exceptional service to all clientele and sharing expert knowledge on meat and seafood.
• Assuming the Meat Manager’s responsibilities in their absence as requested.
• Assisting the Meat Manager in completing daily duties.
• Assisting with receiving trucks and breaking down loads into coolers.
• Cutting and preparing meat and seafood products to meet trim, cut, and prepared consumer-sized portions while properly pulling and rotating meat in the case.

• Following all safety guidelines and avoiding use of equipment if safety mechanisms have been bypassed.
• Reporting missing or non-functional safety mechanisms to the Meat Manager.
• Using the markdown program according to department policy.
• Complying with all company policies including dress code, wearing name tag, and completing all required meat department training.
• Staying up to date with the latest training and knowledge for meat and seafood.
• CIU Apprentice/UFCW Journeyman.

Must be able to lift 60 lb. boxes on occasion and/or exert 25-60 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly while moving and handling materials and products. Requires dexterous use of both hands. Must be able to stand and move about to various workstations. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull items so that objects move toward areas of use.

Must be able to use knives and other sharp instruments used in the preparation of food items and/or removing product from boxes. This is medium work requiring good, corrected vision, hearing, lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling and the ability to work on floors that can be slippery.
