Job Overview
Commercial Sales & Service – Generates lending and fee income through Small Business Administration (SBA) sales for an assigned territory. Works in partnership with other sales teams and Relationship Managers to develop and expand business relationships.
Responsibilities- Generate lending and fee income through SBA sales in an assigned territory.
- Partner with other sales teams and Relationship Managers to develop and expand business relationships.
- Oversee origination, processing, and funding of SBA lending solutions in compliance with internal controls, audit, regulatory, and compliance policies.
- Generate new business by establishing internal banking partnerships, outside networks, and referral sources; expand existing customer relationships through cross‑selling products and services.
- Collaborate with internal partners to develop and implement marketing plans that drive growth of the assigned sales territory; support promotion of all product lines offered in the market.
- Maintain a referral source database for marketing purposes.
- Initiate contacts with internal partners, centers of influence (COIs), and prospective clients to identify, negotiate, and structure lending transactions.
- Maintain and apply a thorough understanding of the bank’s credit policy, client eligibility, and necessary business practices to ensure accurate and complete loan application packages.
- Help determine business priorities and the best sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
- Provide competitive feedback to leadership regarding current policies and practices.
- Participate in projects and other activities to improve the customer experience.
- Liaise between clients and departments across the organization to resolve issues and provide product support and expertise.
- Monitor and track performance, address any issues.
- Execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
- Focus primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise‑wide focus.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
- Accept broader work or accountabilities as needed.
- Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework in the execution of the role, aligning to business strategy, protecting assets, and adhering to applicable policy documents, laws, and regulations.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of SBA products, lending process and directives, credit risk policies and standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of CRM tools.
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

$63,300 – $117,200 per year (salaried). Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Commission structure and performance‑based incentives may be included.
