Job Description

The Waste Disposal Technician is responsible for the proper disposal of spent chemicals, process waste, and unused laboratory samples used in the laboratory according to corporate, federal, state and local guidelines. The role safely transports process waste and unused samples within the laboratory environment, properly packages hazardous waste for transport per DOT, RCRA, and TSCA guidelines, cleans and washes all glassware, maintains inventory, and inspects for damage.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Identify waste streams and maintain satellite accumulation points for laboratory waste products.
  • Package expired chemicals for shipment or disposal.
  • Empty satellite containers into bulk containers and return them to the laboratory for reuse.
  • Maintain the chemical storage area to keep it clutter‑free and free of fire hazards.
  • Ship hazardous waste from the laboratory before the environmental laws time limit for the facility.
  • Track the volume of waste generated for reporting to corporate and the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Prepare and track the implementation of a Waste Minimization Plan.
  • Order and maintain chemical inventory for the laboratory.
  • Wash all glassware by hand, including beakers, flasks, tubes, and cylinders.
  • Perform routine inspections of glass for cracks and breaks.
  • Remove damaged glass for repair.
  • Provide assistance to other departments or areas as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Environmental Studies or a science‑related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the environmental industry.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
Ability And/or Skills (BMQ)
  • Knowledge of RCRA environmental laws.
  • Knowledge of TSCA environmental laws.
  • Understanding of sewer discharge requirements.
  • Familiarity with DOT shipping requirements.
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a chemical environment.
Additional Information

This position is full time, Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with possible overtime and weekend work. It is required to be onsite.

Compensation: $19.10 – $22.10 per hour (DOE). Candidates within a commutable distance to Pomona, CA are encouraged to apply. Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes; the actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, skill set, internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
