Salary: $10,854.00 – $13,493.00 per Month

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team within the Cannabis Enforcement Program (CEP) responsible for environmental compliance and enforcement across Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, and western Trinity counties.
  • Coordinate closely with partners from local and state agencies as well as law enforcement.
  • Supervise and support staff conducting specialized environmental investigations at cannabis cultivation sites, including participation in complex and sensitive cases.
  • Provide first‑management level review of regulatory documents, Environmental Impact Assessments, and Notices of Violation.
  • Apply technical environmental information consistently to protect public trust resources and prevent significant impacts.
Minimum Requirements
  • Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) classification in CDFW.
  • Strong judgment, solid understanding of environmental laws and ecological principles, and ability to navigate sensitive public interactions with professionalism.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 4‑wheel‑drive vehicle and all‑terrain vehicle on rough terrain.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Esri software, and related tools.
Working Conditions

The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day, attendance at meetings, occasional travel throughout the State up to 20% of workdays, and field work that may include hiking over uneven terrain, inclement weather, overnight camping, and wearing a uniform. The position may involve hybrid telework, requiring in‑person presence at least two days per week (four days from July 1, 2026).
