Intern – Summer 2026
Full‑time & Paid Internship
Program Length: Summer (12–16 weeks)
Design and implement best‑practice outfall discharge points that are safe and functional for stormwater and NPDES outfall sampling.
Evaluate current stormwater systems and design improvements that reduce water discharge from the site.
Organise and digitise supporting documentation for compliance activities conducted onsite.
Project deliverables include detailed evaluations, analysis, design, and execution to generate short‑ and long‑term improvements to stormwater and NPDES discharge systems that enhance water quality. The intern will review and organise permit‑related tools, identify gaps in current record‑keeping, and improve documentation to promote clear, concise reporting.
Project learning objectives:
- Learn how design and implementation impact water systems.
- Apply practical design concepts to establish proof of concept.
- Develop time‑management skills to meet short‑ and long‑term goals.
- Understand the permits typical industrial sites hold.
- Identify what environmental tasks are required at industrial sites.
- Identify gaps in current record‑keeping procedures.
- Learn best‑management practices (BMPs) and why they are important.
- Learn how to evaluate and improve existing BMPs.
- Pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Problem‑solving mindset and enjoyment of collaborative work.
- Demonstrated leadership in school clubs, sports teams, or project settings.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Competitive wages commensurate with location, student classification, and major. Relocation support is available to qualified candidates. Priority for full‑time positions is given to interns who complete the program and graduate.
