Job Posting: ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST

Department of Parks & Recreation, Sacramento, CA. Salary: $6,332.00 – $8,680.00 per month.

Headquarters in Sacramento, CA. Position is telework eligible‑office centered.

• Identify, scope, and oversee remediation of impacts to cultural resources in districts affected by illegal cannabis cultivation.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess impacts, effects, and treatments within and near grow areas.
• Prepare inventories of existing cultural resources and recommend management plans.
• Review and evaluate environmental compliance documents, prescribe treatment and mitigation measures.
• Assist in developing educational programs about the impacts of illegal cannabis activities on cultural resources within California State Parks.
• Conduct required training and development assignments as needed.

• Active valid Class C driver’s license (provide license number, class, expiry, and any endorsements).
• Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with specified class and restrictions.
• Minimum education and experience requirements as outlined in the Class Specification (degree/transcripts required for consideration).
• Ability to travel intermittently throughout the state and work irregular hours; ability to hike in backcountry conditions.
