The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its Cancer Center members engaged in research and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients. As the CFCCC's centralized office for cancer clinical research operations, the Stern Center provides high-quality, cost effective and efficient assistance with developing, activating and completing scientifically impactful cancer clinical trials.

The Stern Center consolidates the management of cancer clinical research operations and is a visionary and best-practice leader in clinical research operations at the institution, managing the largest portfolio of clinical trials  any given time, the CFCCC Stern Center manages a very large clinical trials portfolio (~500 active, or in-development). With this large and dynamic clinical trial portfolio, the CFCCC consistently maintains a proportional amount of accounts receivable (~$19M) for work performed and costs incurred.

In order to minimize significant financial risk to the University and ensure the success of the mission of the CFCCC, it is critical these funds be paid in timely manner, requiring the highly focused attention of trained and dedicated staff.

The Clinical Research Finance Analyst is responsible for the financial management and oversight of a complex portfolio of oncology clinical trials within the CFCCC Stern Center for Cancer Clinical Trials and Research (Stern Center), an NCI-Designated Cancer Center. This role partners closely with principal investigators, clinical trial management teams, and institutional finance offices to ensure compliant post-award administration, accurate financial reporting, and effective stewardship of sponsored research funds.

The analyst monitors budgets, expenditures, invoicing, and financial performance across, industry-sponsored clinical trials while ensuring adherence to sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and applicable federal guidelines. The position provides strategic financial analysis, forecasting, and problem-solving to support the successful execution of cancer clinical research and optimize the financial health of the research portfolio. The primary responsibiity is interfacing directly with business partners in the pharmaceutical, medical device and clinical research organization (CRO) partners to administer the accounts receivable and payable for a clinical trial portfolio of ~40-60 accounts with a sepcific disease team.

Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external.
