Agronomic Crop Consultant

Wheat Tech Agronomy is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our consulting team. A four-year college degree in agriculture or a related agricultural field is required to apply.

Crop consulting is a hands-on position that combines agronomic knowledge, field scouting, grower relationships, precision agriculture, crop management, data analysis, and problem-solving. Consultants work directly with growers throughout the entire production cycle—from pre-season planning through harvest and post-harvest analysis.

New consultants will be required to train alongside an experienced crop consultant for approximately 12-18 months.

• Arrive on time and prepared each day.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and observation skills.
• Be willing to learn and accept instruction.
• Develop a strong understanding of agronomic practices and crop production.
• Become familiar with the geography, soils, growers, and production practices of their assigned region.
• Learn Wheat Tech Agronomy's consulting, scouting, documentation, and communication standards.
• Develop proficiency with precision agriculture technology and agronomic software.

Upon successful completion of training, the consultant will transition to managing their own assigned acres and grower relationships. Consultants are expected to continually develop their agronomic knowledge and stay current on new products, technologies, varieties, research, and management practices affecting their assigned crops.

Crop consulting is a field-based position that requires significant time outdoors and in agricultural environments. Consultants should be prepared to work extended and flexible hours during critical periods, including planting, pesticide application, crop scouting, and harvest.

The position requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions, travel between fields, operate an ATV/UTV, and spend extended periods of time walking and working in crop fields.

The goal of a Wheat Tech Agronomy consultant is to help growers make better agronomic decisions throughout the entire crop production cycle.

A successful consultant develops a strong relationship with each grower, understands their operation and goals, uses sound agronomic principles and data to make recommendations, and continually looks for opportunities to improve productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
