Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $6,418.00 per month to $9,468.00 per month.
PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $6,418.00 per month to $8,069.00 per month (Step 5 - Step 15).

Under supervision of the Watch Supervisors, works an assigned shift and performs law enforcement patrol duties on foot, bicycle or by vehicle to protect campus and visiting personnel, property and facilities against accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry; enforces federal, state and local laws and traffic regulations; apprehends violators; provides general information/assistance to the public; responsible for the protection of life and property within the jurisdiction of California State University, East Bay;
provides security for large gatherings of students, faculty, staff or visitors to the campus; conducts investigations related to assigned cases and investigate/record irregularities which occur during assigned shift; takes necessary actions within the limits of prescribed policies/procedures to correct the situation, or if necessary, contacts the appropriate authorities for guidance/assistance; may be required to perform other duties which enhance the safety of the campus community, such as providing assistance to Public Safety/Police support staff;
participate in emergency preparedness and other safety programs. Must have successfully completed a POST certified Police Academy in the last three years from date of hire and/or possess at minimum, a POST Basic Certificate.
- Enforces applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as CSU East Bay regulations, in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
- Responds promptly to reports of criminal or prohibited activity and conducts thorough, timely investigations with diligence and sensitivity.
- Identifies violators and takes appropriate enforcement action through arrest, citation, referral, or administrative action, consistent with laws, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares clear, accurate, and timely reports documenting investigations, incidents, and enforcement actions.
- Collects, processes, and preserves evidence in accordance with established standards.
- Appears and provides professional testimony at criminal proceedings, administrative hearings, or related proceedings.
- Treats victims, witnesses, and violators with respect and ensures their rights are upheld.
- Provides high-visibility patrol and presence by foot, bicycle, or vehicle to promote safety, security, and order, and to deter criminal or inappropriate behavior.
- Conducts routine patrols of facilities, grounds, and public areas, with emphasis on identifying and addressing safety hazards, security vulnerabilities, and environmental conditions that may adversely affect persons or property.
- Provides security patrols, crowd control, and visibility at major events, incidents, and large gatherings.
- Investigates reports of activity affecting the safety, security, or order of the University community, including civil issues impacting University interests, and ensures such matters are fully documented.
- Responds to personal safety needs, provides safety escorts, and addresses hazards or security concerns through direct action or appropriate referral and follow-up.
- Responds promptly and appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and alarms, including fire, security, medical, traffic, and disaster-related events, with due regard for the safety and welfare of others.
