Security Guard

$3,167.00 - $3,963.00 per Month (New-to-State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range when applicable.)

• Guarding and protecting the Fairgrounds and other State properties.
• Maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and the public.
• Writing and completing incident reports and daily shift logs.
• Assisting various agencies and responding to alarms.
• Performing inspections at fixed intervals, verifying doors/windows secure, monitoring security cameras.
• Issuing passes, greeting visitors, directing them to appropriate functions, handling phone calls.
• Enforcing applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Responding to emergencies, including using a fire extinguisher and evacuating property.
• Operating light vehicles and riding power equipment, and using two‑way radios or other communication devices.

Essential job functions require strong physical stamina for heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, walking and climbing stairs, operating vehicles, and working both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions. Applicants must be able to hear, read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for job performance.

• Valid State of California driver’s license required.
• New to State candidates must achieve list eligibility and pass the Security Guard online exam.
• Minimum salary of $3,167.00 per month; may receive alternate range if applicable.

• Experience performing security inspections and maintaining security logs.
• Knowledge of emergency response protocols and ability to use a fire extinguisher.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with visitors and agencies.
