Authorized Public Safety Officer - Unarmed | Irregular Part-Time

Freeburg, MO $41,099 - $52,099 a year

Join a dedicated team committed to providing a secure and protected environment for staff, patients, and visitors in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. As a Public Safety Officer, you will conduct routine surveillance of healthcare properties, including grounds and buildings, ensuring safety through foot and vehicle patrols. You will respond promptly to calls for service, maintain accurate records, and professionally manage situations involving potential disturbances or threats.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate compassion and respect when interacting with others, maintaining confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide timely updates and follow-ups to departments requesting public safety services.
  • Complete shift activities such as daily logs and incident reports within designated time frames.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of rounds, incidents, and routine activities during shifts.
  • Communicate safety and security concerns, emergencies, or potentially dangerous situations to designated management personnel.
  • Coordinate emergency and crisis response activities calmly and professionally.
  • Monitor and direct parking on premises according to policy.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ensuring clear information sharing and active listening.
Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Graduation from a Law Enforcement Academy is mandatory.

Experience

Minimum of one year of road experience as a Patrol Officer or four years of active experience in law enforcement detention.

Certification and Licenses

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required. Must be a commissioned law enforcement officer in good standing with the state POST Commission or have held a valid commission within the past three years and be able to obtain a commission within 90 days of employment. A valid driver's license is also required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret safety and security policies, and stand or walk for extended periods, including navigating stairs and long corridors. Must be capable of safely operating patrol vehicles.

Working Conditions

This role involves exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, chemicals, infectious diseases, and potentially aggressive individuals. The position requires interaction with patients, visitors, family members, and staff in a healthcare environment.
