Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary: $45,555.60 (based on a normal 40‑hour workweek). Eligible for retention/longevity pay, shift differential and overtime pay in accordance with departmental policy D2‑8.

This is a Correctional Officer position assigned to the Mobile Custody Team and requires extensive travel statewide. The official domicile is the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, MO, but the officer will travel to DAI facilities across Missouri as directed by the Deputy Division Director.
Work schedule:
Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm (noon) to 12:00 am (midnight). Officer will report to the South Central Correctional Center by noon each Monday to receive orders and will return by approximately midnight on Friday.
- Provide a state vehicle for transportation to and from assisted facilities, be reimbursed for meals and lodging while traveling as required. May be required to carpool and share a roommate while traveling.
- Maintain security in buildings/towers/other posts; intervene during emergencies; gain physical control of offenders. Supervise offender movement inside/outside the facility, conduct counts, search for contraband and escort/transport offenders to predetermined locations.
- Supervise offenders during work activities, recreational/religious activities, and visits; search visitors, offenders, buildings and grounds for contraband.
- Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare and submit reports on violations, unusual behaviors, mechanical deficiencies or security breaches.
- Discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders, refer serious problems to proper staff, and promote rehabilitation by modifying social attitudes and discouraging undesirable behaviors.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Complete and maintain firearms certification training administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
