Position

Damage Prevention Technician (Reports to Foreman/Superintendent)

Summary

Responsible for interacting with contractors and personnel onsite to ensure proper excavation practices are followed and in adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of excavation, including but not limited to:
    • Preparation for excavation
    • Permits and notifications
    • One Call system
    • Excavation responsibilities and dangers
    • Tools and equipment
    • Sloping requirements
    • Soil types
    • Protecting pipe during excavation
    • Measuring pipe clearance
    • Tolerance zones
    • Pipeline locating and marking
    • OSHA regulations for excavation
    • Inspect pipe for damages
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands

The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand; walk; climb or balance;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Damage Prevention Technicians must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations, as well as all governmental regulations.
