Primary Mechanical Fitter – High Voltage

About the CompanyOur client specializes in large‑scale electrical engineering projects in sectors such as maritime, panel construction, utilities, infrastructure and energy transition. Their 150+ skilled professionals—including electricians, panel builders and technicians—support a wide range of long‑ and short‑term projects, from industrial facilities and luxury yachts to tunnels, bridges and energy grids.

This company does not handle residential work.
As a Primary High‑Voltage Mechanical Fitter, you’ll work on site at high‑voltage locations (110/220 kV and 380 kV) and handle the mechanical installation of critical power distribution components. You’ll work both indoors and outdoors, always with strict attention to safety. Your responsibilities include:
- Installing transformers, circuit breakers, voltage transformers and disconnectors
- Mounting insulators and metal support structures
- Placing cableways and routing cables
- Reading and interpreting technical schematics and system drawings
- Power transformer and voltage transformer placement
- Circuit breaker and disconnector installation
- Installing insulators and cableways
- Interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics
- Working safely on high‑voltage sites
You will be paid on a weekly basis. Your salary is based on your experience and starts from € 625 net per week for a 40‑hour workweek. In some cases, extra hours can be worked and the salary will be higher. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee overtime. Health insurance and accommodation are included.
Payment is based on the following components:
- Cost of Living allowance
- Travel expenses from home country to the Netherlands
- Travel expenses up to 27 km from accommodation to project per day*
- Payment for extra‑statutory holidays
- Holiday pay
- Health insurance
- Deduction of housing
* Additional kilometres are reimbursed at € 0.21 per kilometre, both for the driver and passengers.
Important:Vacation Hours
In addition to your salary, you also accrue vacation hours. You will work in rotations. After working for 10 weeks, it is common to take 1 to 2 weeks of vacation. You accumulate approximately 30 hours of vacation time every 10 weeks, which can be used for a vacation or a rotation.
AccommodationWe arrange accommodation for our colleagues. The average distance between the accommodation and the project site is 30 km. The accommodation is shared with several people, but everyone has their own bedroom. A travel allowance is paid from your accommodation to the project and back; the first 27 km per day is included in the net salary. Extra kilometres are reimbursed at € 0.21 per kilometre, increasing the weekly salary by € 1.00–€ 50.00 per week.
CarLease
Our client offers the option to lease a car (Mitsubishi Space Star 2024, Seat MII 2021 or Hyundai 2025). For a reduced rate, you can drive to work every day without any worries. You will pay around € 65.00–€ 70.00 per week, which is deducted from your salary. Just let us know if you are interested and we’ll arrange for you to sign the lease agreement and receive your car keys and fuel or charging card.
Requirements- You must have a valid driver’s licence.
- You are required to take 1 to 3 passengers to the project.
- Travel costs from accommodation to the project will be cancelled.
Tip:
Ask colleagues for a small contribution if they carpool—drive cheaper!
Our client provides health insurance. If medical assistance is needed in the Netherlands, it is readily available.
BSN & CertificationsIf you want to work in the Netherlands, you need to have a BSN (Citizen Service Number) and you’ll require certain certifications. Our client will arrange with the municipality to obtain a BSN. For VCA or Sky platform (IPAF), an exam needs to be taken. Our client will provide study materials to help you prepare and will cover the cost of the first exam.
Subsequent attempts must be paid for by the individual.
