Bermex, Inc. offers expert utility consulting services and solutions throughout the United States, including leak detection, atmospheric corrosion, line location, software service solutions, and water, gas, and electric meter reading and installation.
About the RoleThe Ready Force Team Technician plays a key role in gas, water, and electric meter installation/exchange, maintenance and reading, surveying gas lines, and customer communication. This role may also involve atmospheric corrosion, leak surveying, or line locating. The position requires significant outdoor walking, excellent time management, flexibility, and up to 100% travel within the United States.
What You’ll Do- Meter Maintenance:
Inspect water or electric meters for leaks or damage, identify hazards, change out meters and meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrades. - Meter Reading:
Read electric, gas, or water meters and enter data into a handheld computer. - Surveying Meters and Gas Lines:
Detect underground utilities, mark locations, inspect gas meters and piping for corrosion, grade gas leaks, and report hazards. - Customer & Team Communication:
Refer consumer complaints, provide information to customers, use phones or computers to communicate, and attend safety meetings.
Proficient in at least one to two core services such as meter reading or small meter installation/exchange. Basic gas line surveying or detection. Performs under close supervision.
Qualifications- Minimum age 18.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electric, gas, or water meter maintenance, installation, or reading, or gas line detection/surveying.
- Upon hire may need to complete and pass Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years experience in gas and/or electric services.
- 2+ years experience in direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes.
- Valid driver’s license and completion of OQ training.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or as a team.
- Exceptional flexibility, time management, and route scheduling.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle unhappy customers professionally.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving.
- Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, GIS basics).
Outdoor work. Must be able to remain stationary, perform repetitive motions, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel Requirements100% travel within United States.
