* Position Overview:

** Student employees in the Physical Plant Department at Charleston Southern University assist with the maintenance and upkeep of campus facilities. Working alongside skilled tradespeople, they help with a variety of tasks including repairs, maintenance, and general labor. This role provides hands-on experience in areas such as carpentry, electrical work, and HVAC systems, allowing students to develop practical skills in facility management while contributing to the smooth operation of the university's physical infrastructure.

** Responsibilities vary by role and may include, but are not limited to:

** Shop Assistant*
* * Assist with the maintenance and repair of campus facilities and equipment.

* Support skilled workers such as electricians, carpenters, and HVAC technicians by gathering tools, materials, and equipment.

* Perform basic tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and general upkeep.

* Help maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop and work areas.

* Assist with inventory management, including tracking tools and ordering supplies.

* Respond to on-campus service requests and provide general labor assistance as needed.
