Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Kearney
Car Wash Maintenance Technician
Kansas City Metro Area (Kearney, Cameron, Platte City, MO)
Full-Time (45 hrs/week) | Field-Based | Travel Required
Looking for someone who has experience in the following areas. Equipment and Maintenance- Preventative maintenance on In-Bay Automatic (IBA) wash systems, self-service bays, vacuums, payment systems, and chemical delivery equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and control system issues
- Working with multimeters, schematics, breaker panels, contractors, single-phase and three-phase power (220/440)
- Running conduit, wiring, replacing wiring, making hydraulic hoses, running chemical and water lines, PVC and copper pipe
- Installing equipment into concrete — anchors, signage, track systems
- Garage doors, automatic doors, boilers and floor heating systems
- Troubleshooting logically — finding the real problem, not throwing parts at it
- Minor repairs and maintenance support at oil change lube center locations as needed
- Keeping bays, lots, vacuum islands, and equipment looking like somebody cares about them
- Pressure washing bays, cleaning oil-water separators, shoveling mud, clearing drains
- If it’s dirty, you clean it. If chemicals need filling, you fill them. You own the whole site.
- Leading or supporting equipment installs, upgrades, and improvement projects
- Working with vendors, placing service calls, managing project timelines
- Communicating up and down the chain of command — your team knows what’s going on because you told them
- Every work order documented in our maintenance tracking system with photos, parts used, root cause, and next steps. Non-negotiable.
This is a full-time position averaging 45 hours per week. Car washes don’t break on a schedule, and they don’t wait until Monday morning. You should expect:
- Weekend work — equipment goes down on Saturday, you go fix it
- Early mornings or late nights when the situation calls for it
- Taking calls on weekends and after hours — if a site is down, you’re the person who knows about it
- Flexibility to shift your schedule — work a weekend, take a day off during the week
This is not an 8-to-5, Monday-through-Friday desk job. If you need rigid hours, this role isn’t the right fit. If you’re the kind of person who sees a problem and handles it regardless of the clock, you’ll do well here.
What You Get- Vehicle allowance and gas card
- Health insurance — group plan available
- 401(k) with company match
- Vacation and sick leave
- Training and development — we invest in you getting better at the job
- Growth path — junior technicians grow into senior roles based on performance, not seniority
- Autonomy — you plan your day, you run your sites, you own how the work gets done
- Travel covered — flights, hotels, and meals when working out of market
- Mechanical aptitude — comfortable with hand tools, not afraid to get dirty
- Reliable personal vehicle — this is a field role with daily travel between sites. Vehicle allowance and gas card provided.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel — this includes flying to other states. We have sites across the country, and travel to other markets is part of the position.
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule — weekends, early mornings, and after-hours calls are part of the job
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work on roofs, lift 50+ lbs, and work in all weather conditions
- Experience with In-Bay Automatic (IBA) car wash systems (Ryko, Mark VII, or similar)
- Electrical troubleshooting (multimeter, schematics, breaker panels, variable frequency drives)
- Plumbing (PVC, copper, water lines, chemical lines)
- Experience with garage doors, automatic doors, or boiler/heating systems
- Experience with payment systems (coin acceptors, bill changers, credit card readers)
- Experience with maintenance tracking software
- If you’ve worked in HVAC, industrial maintenance, plumbing, electrical, automotive repair, facilities maintenance, or military equipment maintenance — your skills probably transfer.
Competitive pay based on experience. $20-$25/Hr Full benefits package.
