Clearance Requirements

Secret clearance required at the start of the role. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable timeframe as determined by business needs.

Description

At Northrop Grumman, employees work on revolutionary systems that impact lives worldwide. This role is part of the Aeronautics System group and supports the B‑2 modification team at Whiteman AFB, Mo.

Position

Aircraft Electrician – Level 1 or Level 2.

Responsibilities
  • Complete initial qualification training and earn certifications to perform work on the B‑2 Bomber.
  • Training and certifications will be assigned by the supervisor and will include aircraft structures, electrical work, low‑observable modifications, engine removal, and other tasks based on upcoming aircraft modifications.
  • Lay out, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable on aircraft.
  • Cut wire to length, strip insulation from wire ends, and insulate connections with plastic sleeves.
  • Attach wire or complex electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards using bolts, screws, or solder.
  • Obtain and maintain electrical qualifications and other maintenance certifications.
  • Perform tasks directed by the supervisor including low‑observable work, structures, hydraulic couplings, and engine/tailpipe removal and installation.
  • Configure aircraft for maintenance, remove and install hardware, handle component removal and installations, assist with software uploads, and perform system operational checkouts.
  • Isolate faults, troubleshoot, and repair system failures detected during operational checks while restoring aircraft to flying condition.
  • Interpret and use test equipment and work from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
  • Use appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including 1st shift 0630–1500, 2nd shift 1430–2300, and overtime as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Level 1:
    High School Diploma or GED with 0 years of additional education or related experience.
  • Level 2:
    High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of additional education or related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends.
  • Success in an electrical training class required for continued employment.
  • Ability to access small confined spaces and work in enclosed environments.
  • Capability to perform moderate strenuous physical work, including bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing confined spaces.
  • Pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to maintain respirator clearance and compliance with respirator fitting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOD Secret clearance with a current investigation date or periodic review within the past 6 years.
  • Hands‑on experience building, modifying, or maintaining aircraft, automotive, or other machinery using common hand tools.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Initiative, self‑starter, adaptability, and high motivation for excellence.
Salary Range

Primary Level: $38,600.00 – $64,000.00
Secondary Level: $45,800.00 – $76,000.00
