Essential Job Functions

Under the direction of the Plumber Crew Chief, this position is responsible for performing duties related to light new construction, routine and preventive interior and exterior plumbing maintenance throughout the districts' 33 buildings and grounds areas, and perform other work-related duties as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager or senior management staff; may require occasional weekend work.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and a high school graduate
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' progressive experience in facilities, maintenance and/or plumbing fields
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work overtime if needed
  • Must possess and maintain minimum Missouri Class E driver's license or equivalent accompanied by an excellent driving record
  • Able to prioritize duties and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate to a diverse student population, staff, administration, workforce, contractors and suppliers
  • Proficient in the use of all mechanical hand tools, sewer cleaning equipment, power tools, and plumbing equipment
  • Must be proficient in soldering and brazing
  • Able to read, interpret and understand construction documents including shop drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical specifications and contracts
  • Must be able to move safely and effectively in and around all district buildings and work at heights greater than 20 feet and on rooftops
  • Able to safely and repeatedly lift and relocate items weighing up to 70 pounds on a regular basis
  • Able to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, for all job related duties and response to safety emergencies
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation
