Position Summary
The Wastewater Technician II performs preventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater treatment equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Work includes the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and chemical systems. The Incumbent also supports the installation of new equipment and communicates with operators and vendors to maintain optimal system performance. The Wastewater Technician II is expected to follow all safety procedures and complete accurate records in the work order system.
Principal Responsibilities- Diagnose mechanical problems and apply advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on wastewater treatment equipment such as conveyors, screens, thickeners, screw presses, ultrafilters, chemical dosing systems, pumps, and piping.
- Repair or replace parts as directed by work orders; complete accurate service reports.
- Overhaul or replace machine components and worn items.
- Communicate with lead operator and/or wastewater operators for clarification of problems; discuss preventive techniques with equipment users.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to standard schedules.
- Maintain, repair, and install PVC/CPVC pipe, HDPE pipe, odor systems, and negative pressure systems.
- Install and set up new equipment; communicate with vendors regarding maintenance schedules.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Current 40‑Hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass class upon hire.
- Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication with operators, team members, and vendors.
- Commitment to safety practices and compliance with regulations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
2‑4 years of prior related experience as a wastewater technician or related experience.
