Job Overview

Primoris Pipeline is seeking experienced Excavator/Trackhoe Operators to support pipeline construction projects. This position is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to excavate, trench, backfill, and perform grading activities associated with the installation of oil, gas, and utility pipelines.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate excavators, trackhoes, and other heavy equipment in support of pipeline construction activities.
  • Excavate trenches to required depths and specifications for pipeline installation.
  • Perform ditching, back filling, grading, and cleanup operations.
  • Load and unload materials, pipe, and construction equipment as needed.
  • Work closely with welders, sideboom operators, laborers, and field supervision to support project operations.
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities and existing infrastructure.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Read and interpret grade stakes, construction drawings, and field instructions.
  • Assist with general construction activities when equipment operation is not required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating excavators/trackhoes in pipeline, utility, heavy civil, or industrial construction environments.
  • Experience working around underground utilities and pipeline installations preferred.
  • Ability to safely excavate around existing facilities and utilities.
  • Knowledge of trenching, grading, and excavation best practices.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and challenging terrain.
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as project needs require.
