Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Location: Louisiana
Position Summary
The Sterilization Technician focuses heavily on sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and cart washers. Knowledge of Steris, Amsco, and/or Getinge sterilizers is beneficial but not required. The technician is required to be familiar with many classes of clinical equipment and may perform maintenance on equipment outside of the specialty.
Must be available for travel as required. Responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and verifying performance of highly complex sterilization and decontamination equipment and systems, with minimal supervision. The technician is competent in using all applicable test equipment and tools. They ensure regulatory compliance, assist with inventory management, advise on technical matters concerning specialty equipment, and contribute to department improvement and development by mentoring associates.
Skillsand Experience
- At least 6 months experience in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of sterilization and decontamination equipment.
- AC/DC electrical knowledge; ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Plumbing knowledge; ability to read and understand piping diagrams and identify basic plumbing components.
- Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; variable travel requirements may require use of personal vehicle.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and networking applications.
- 2‑year degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent experience required.
- Requirement waived if applicant has the TRIMEDX Trained Certification or has completed an equivalent biomedical related certification program.
- Routine use of fine motor skills during installation, servicing, and maintenance of equipment.
- Physical requirements:
bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, balancing, or otherwise maneuvering body while servicing and repairing equipment; lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. - Ability to operate tools or machinery that use hand and/or foot controls (e.g., drills, saws, electronic test equipment).
