Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Firestop Technician to join our Guardian Firestop Solutions team. This role is responsible for installing firestop systems in accordance with construction drawings, building codes, and manufacturer specifications to ensure effective compartmentation and fire containment in commercial, industrial, or residential buildings. The position will have potential national travel, primarily serving Missouri and Illinois initially.

Responsibilities
  • Install firestop systems (penetration fire stopping, joint fire stopping, curtain wall systems, etc.) to meet project specifications and UL systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, construction documents, and technical specifications related to firestop installations.
  • Identify and select appropriate firestop materials for different substrates and penetrants (e.g., pipes, conduits, ducts, cables).
  • Prepare and clean surfaces for application and ensure proper adhesion of firestop products.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes and safety regulations.
  • Work closely with project managers, inspectors, and other trades to ensure quality installations.
  • Document installations, including system types, materials used, and locations for inspection and quality assurance purposes.
  • Use tools and equipment safely, including caulking guns, drills, and hand tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper handling of firestop materials and tools.
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all company safety protocols.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Perform tasks at heights such as attics, ladders, scaffolding, and commercial ceilings.
  • Enter tight or confined spaces, such as crawl spaces and mechanical rooms.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of construction, insulation, or firestop installation experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and UL listings.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. for project assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UL firestop systems and fire-resistance-rated construction.
  • Experience working in schools, hospitals, data centers, or other government facilities with critical environments and fire stopping needs.
  • Familiarity with Hilti, STI, 3M, or other major firestop system manufacturers.
