Entry‑Level Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing – Jefferson, Louisiana
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Field Technician to join our Building & Construction team in Jefferson, Louisiana. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Construction Services.
What we’re looking forThe Field Technician is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project‑specific observations, and site assessment duties under supervision or from detailed controlled procedures. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel within the local region to various project sites, with experience in concrete testing, nuclear density testing, and pile logging.
Shift / Schedule6 AM – 6 PM with occasional weekend work. Times vary based on weather, job site conditions, and experience.
Salary & BenefitsThe base wage or salary range for this position is $16 – $24/hr individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons.

Key responsibilities- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete, or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
- Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.
- Excellent communication skills and handwriting.
- Ability to work off‑shift and overtime as needed.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb occasionally and work at various heights.
- Applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30–50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Experience in the Construction Industry.
- Experience in Construction Materials Testing.
- TWIC Card.
