Equipment Operator; O&M Iris

Job Responsibilities

• Practice safety rules.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Report to and assist the immediate supervisor.
• Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
• Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
• Work well as part of a team.
• Safety:
  Adhere to all company safety policies, state, federal and local regulations. Stop and correct unsafe work practices and refuse to work in unsafe conditions.
• Mobilization and Demobilization:
  Mobilize equipment, including loading, unloading, securing, setting up and tearing down.
• Equipment Maintenance:
  Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and tools are accounted for, used for the correct purpose and properly maintained.
• Other:
  Serve as backup to other positions at management direction and perform other duties as assigned.
• Physical tasks:
  Lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds daily (rarely over 50 lbs); grasp and manipulate hand tools; stand for more than two hours, twisting, bending, reaching, stooping; use manual dexterity and fine motor skills; communicate orally and comprehend spoken English.
• Operate motorized equipment safely; perform tasks where carelessness could lead to injury.
• Work in environments with drafts, noise, temperature variation, or similar discomforts.
• Proofread and check documents for accuracy; use keyboard to enter and transform data.
• Comply with the company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy; pass pre‑employment physical examinations as required.
• Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and in confined spaces such as towers, vessels, excavations.
• Get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. when necessary.
• Work extended hours on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
• Wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment when required; be clean‑shaven if needed.

Location:

Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.

Mobility barriers include uneven ground, obstructed pathways, low/high elevations, and confined work spaces.

Environmental conditions are predominantly outdoor; exposure may include extreme heat or cold, humidity, rain, loud noise from tools and machinery, and potential chemical exposure.

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience excavating near underground utilities.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement preferred.
