The Piledriver man/Rigger is responsible for assisting the Pile Driving Crane Operator in properly installing the designated piles. This person will offer physical support and feedback during all pile driving activities. Must be skilled in the assistance of deep foundation installation, including timber piles, concrete piles, sheet piles, drill shafts, auger cast, etc. Must be experienced in erecting, disassembling, and working with and around pile driving equipment.
Must also have basic rigging knowledge and perform general construction duties.
- Erect and dismantle lattice boom cranes.
- Obtain necessary tools and components and lay out the work.
- Interpret hand signals to direct cranes for pile driving activities.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of your arms and legs and the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials at construction sites.
- Act as a team lead and mentor to less experienced laborers.
- Use safety gear and practice safe work habits per company policy manual.
- Ability to rig equipment and material to be set into place.
- Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to complete the job task at hand.
- Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- 2+ years of industrial field experience as Pile Driver Helper preferred.
- Must comply with company drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by company.
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at elevated heights and in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Able to carry 50 lbs of tool and/or materials; assistance recommended for items over 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
- Obstructed pathways
- Work performed at low and/or high elevations
- Work performed in confined areas
- Predominately outdoor climate
- May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather
- Various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
- Potential exposure to chemical substances
