Job Title

Locksmith I (Correctional Facility)

$5,964 - $7,144 per month.

Under the direction of the Central Services Captain, performs skilled work as a locksmith; installs, repairs, and maintains cylinder and bit key locks, padlocks, opens locks, changes lock combinations, repairs or replaces tumblers, springs, and other parts; keeps records and inventories keys; performs related door inspection, doorknobs, and door strikes; orders and stores material for the Lock Shop; maintains security of working areas and work materials;

responsible to maintain the safety of persons and property.

12‑month limited term, may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

• Install, repair, and maintain cylinder and bit key locks, padlocks, and other locking devices.
• Open locks, change combinations, repair or replace tumblers, springs, and other parts.
• Maintain accurate records and inventories of keys.
• Inspect doors, doorknobs, and strikes and report needed repairs.
• Order and store materials for the lock shop.
• Maintain security of working areas and materials, ensuring safety of people and property.
