Position: Electric Groundsman (Full-Time with Benefits)
Location: Waynesville

The City of Waynesville is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Electric Groundsman to support our Electric Department. This full-time entry level position assists line crews with the construction, maintenance, and repair of the city’s electrical distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical lines
  • Load/unload materials, tools, and equipment
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment
  • Set poles, dig holes, and backfill trenches
  • Maintain safe work zones and direct traffic as needed
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Respond to outages and emergency call-outs, including after-hours
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor (lifting, bending, climbing, standing)
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Electric utility experience preferred but not required
