Foreman – Commercial Concrete Finishing and Carpentry
This foreman role oversees commercial flatwork projects for small to mid-sized buildings in the Kansas City metro area. You lead finishers and carpenters, ensure high-quality concrete finishing and carpentry work, and drive project profitability by completing tasks efficiently and diligently while maintaining strong customer service and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Review and understand project details, including budgeted man hours allocated to specific tasks.
- Plan daily work activities to maximize project efficiency and profitability.
- Install, repair, and erect fixtures and structures made of wood for commercial projects.
- Smooth, level, and professionally finish freshly poured concrete for flatwork applications.
- Perform commercial concrete finishing and carpentry on small to mid-sized buildings such as strip malls, schools, restaurants, and office buildings.
- Lead and direct finishers, carpenters, and general laborers to complete work safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Use mechanical and construction tools and equipment correctly to perform concrete work, including forms, pours, and related tasks.
- Assist with estimating projects, including labor and materials needed for concrete and carpentry work.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer service, quality, and profitability throughout each project.
- Promote and model values of integrity, teamwork, innovation, and opportunity on the job site.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience finishing concrete or performing concrete carpentry in commercial settings.
- Proven ability to professionally finish concrete from day one, including smoothing, leveling, and detailed finishing work.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and coordinate crews on active job sites.
- Hands-on experience with commercial concrete finishing and carpentry, including concrete forms and pours.
- Ability to estimate projects, including understanding labor, materials, and time requirements.
- Proper knowledge and safe use of construction tools and equipment related to concrete work, carpentry, and general labor.
- Mechanical aptitude for working with cast iron, concrete work, masonry, and related construction tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on small to mid-sized commercial projects such as strip malls, schools, restaurants, and office buildings.
- Experience in general construction, including concrete work, concrete forms, concrete pours, and masonry.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both finishing and carpentry tasks.

Work Environment
The role is based on active commercial job sites across the Kansas City metro area, focusing on small to mid-sized concrete pours for strip malls, schools, restaurants, and small office buildings. You work primarily outdoors and in partially completed structures, using standard construction tools and equipment for concrete finishing, carpentry, and general labor. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring physical work, attention to safety, and collaboration with a field crew.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Lees Summit, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
