Salary Range: $57,144.00 - $93,140.00 Annually

The City of Baltimore is offering a position as a Utilities Installer and Repairer III. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing water mains, service pipes, water meters, fire hydrants, sanitary house connections, manholes, wastewater collection pipes, mains, storm drains, and related appurtenances of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

• Maintain, repair, and install water mains, service pipes, water meters, fire hydrants, sanitary house connections, manholes, wastewater collection pipes, mains, storm drains, and related appurtenances.
• May lead utility installers and repairers but does not involve supervisory duties.
• Work outdoors, with exposure to inclement weather, confined spaces (manholes, excavations), and traffic.
• Perform strenuous physical tasks including bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting heavy objects.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of a water distribution system or storm water and wastewater system.
• Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license (or equivalent out-of-state license). Provisional driver's license or learner permits are not acceptable.
• Within six months of hire:
  Certificate indicating successful completion of Temporary Traffic Control Manager’s training course per Maryland State Highway Administration specifications.
• After March 1 2015:
  Apply within 30 days to obtain temporary State of Maryland Wastewater Collection Class C2 or Water Distribution Class D1 certifications; submit proofs within six months of hire.
• Within three years of hire:
  Obtain and maintain permanent State of Maryland Wastewater Collection Class C2 or Water Distribution Class D1 certifications. Failure to obtain or maintain certifications may result in demotion or termination.
