Job Overview
Job Summary:
Operate pile driving cranes to drive steel, concrete, and timber piles into the ground to provide support for foundations, bridges, and other heavy civil structures. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic construction environment.
- Operate various types of pile driving cranes, including lattice boom and hydraulic cranes, to safely and efficiently drive piles according to project specifications.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on crane equipment, including inspecting cables, hooks, and safety devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and load charts to determine appropriate crane setup and lifting procedures.
- Communicate effectively with ground crew and other team members using hand signals, radios, and other communication methods.
- Monitor pile driving operations to ensure proper alignment, plumb, and depth of driven piles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor operational issues with crane equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or incidents to the supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating pile driving cranes in a heavy civil construction environment.
- Valid NCCCO certification (or equivalent) for lattice boom and/or hydraulic cranes with a pile driving endorsement.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, load charts, and construction plans.
- Strong understanding of crane mechanics, rigging techniques, and pile driving procedures.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Physical ability to climb, stand, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Primoris Heavy Civil provides highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to private commercial and industrial clients as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Transportation and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Heavy Civil is comprised of six operating units that include North Louisiana Operations, South Louisiana Operations, Texas Operations, HMA Paving Operations, Concrete Paving Operations, and the Infrastructure Rehabilitation Unit.
