Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic to join our aviation maintenance team at DuPage Airport. The A&P Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft and aircraft systems in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures
.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aircraft safety and airworthiness.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine, scheduled, and preventive maintenance on aircraft systems and components.
- Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and other required inspections to ensure aircraft airworthiness.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and related aircraft system issues.
- Inspect, repair, remove, and replace aircraft components, including engines, landing gear, brakes, and avionics.
- Use appropriate diagnostic and testing equipment, including ammeters, compression testers, and ignition analyzers.
- Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, technical publications, schematics, and related documentation.
- Accurately document all inspections, maintenance, repairs, and component replacements.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, airworthiness requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, inspectors, and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex aircraft issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain proper care of tools, equipment, and aircraft.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance practices, and FAA requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, maintenance documentation, and schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to aviation safety.
- Previous experience with commercial, regional, corporate, or general aviation aircraft.
- Experience working with Gulfstream and/or Hawker aircraft.
- Military aviation maintenance experience.
- Familiarity with aviation maintenance tracking or maintenance management software.
- Experience with aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, and scheduled maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
- Physical ability and dexterity to work around aircraft and perform maintenance in various conditions.
