Maintenance Worker, Construction Labor & Trades, Building Maintenance, Heavy Equipment Operator

Primary PurposeTo performs a variety of manual tasks in the construction, repair, maintenance, cleaning, and operation of the City’s public works systems within the Street Division.
SupervisionUnder the direct supervision of the assigned Project Supervisor, and general daily oversight of the assigned Crew Leader.
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. At least eighteen (18) months of experience in the related maintenance of which some experience must be in the construction and maintenance of utilities mains. Experience in the operation of tractors, dump trucks, or comparable excavation equipment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesMust be knowledgeable in the principles, procedures and equipment involved in the construction, maintenance, or repair of a variety of public utilities, roads, or other facilities. Must have the ability to read blueprints and be able to maintain manual and computerized records of replacement work and prepare report;
Working knowledge of modern office procedures, ability to operate computers, and copiers;
Answer phones as needed;
Must be able to memorize and retain information;
Must be able to effectively communicate through written and verbal skills;
Must have good time management skills;
Must have good cognitive and analytical skills;
Must be able to handle stressful situations;
Must have good time management skills;
Must be able to quickly assess or judge situations and make decisions under pressure in areas of responsibility.
