Heavy Equipment Operator, CDL

Operate heavy equipment for excavation, back filling, loading, and moving dirt, gravel, and other materials.
Operate straight trucks over 4 tons, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, tractor-trailers, and related equipment.
Monitor and assess equipment, structures, materials, events, and environmental conditions to identify problems and solutions.
Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.
Manage material resources and time, order materials, and complete work within allotted time and quality standards.
Follow procedures, regulations, guidelines, and safety requirements while minimizing risks.
Drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to job sites.
Perform greasing, adjustments, emergency repairs, and minor equipment repairs.
Load and unload materials from trucks.
Respond to emergency calls after normal work hours.
Travel frequently to work sites and between facilities.
Perform other assigned duties and special projects.

• One year of work experience in roads and ground maintenance, or demonstrated ability to properly use heavy equipment, and knowledge of road maintenance.
• CDL or other special classification of operator’s license is required.
• Mathematics to calculate material usage, complete logs, time sheets, notate mileage, and accurately use measuring tools, equipment and devices.
• Knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance practices, repairs and techniques.
• Ability to follow directions, instructions, structured process and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively and complete daily records.
• Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time and adapt to changing work priorities.
• Ability to follow established safety rules and use appropriate PPE.
• Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common-sense skills.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Technical/other training.
• Class A License Hazmat Endorsement may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.
• Valid Driver’s License may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.
• Ability to lift or move tools, equipment and/or materials up to 50 pounds.

Demonstrates expertise in operating heavy equipment for excavation and road maintenance while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards. Proficient in managing material resources, performing equipment maintenance, and effectively communicating in a team environment.
