Your Job

Koch Methanol is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support its facility in St. James, Louisiana. This role will troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate, and improve electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that support safe and reliable facility operations.

This role operates on a 4/10s schedule on Monday - Thursday with overtime and on call as needed.

What You Will Do
  • Install, calibrate, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and control systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on flow, level, pressure, temperature, vibration, analyzer, variable frequency drive, electric motor, motor control center, and mechanical relay equipment.
  • Verify and validate Emerson Delta V control systems, including Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Valve Link, and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) to manage daily maintenance workflow and equipment information.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit drawings, and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to support troubleshooting and installation work.
  • Maintain and improve wireless instrumentation, supporting infrastructure, workflows, and processes.
  • Partner with operations and engineering to improve system performance, maintenance efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Evaluate and apply new technologies, systems, and workflows that expand team knowledge and create operational value.
  • Support off-shift, weekend, overtime, and on-call work as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% for training, collaboration, and support of other sites.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, and installing instrumentation or electrical equipment.
  • Experience with PLCs, DCS, or other industrial control systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to be medically cleared for respiratory protection.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including:
    • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
    • Pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs.
    • Climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds more than 160 feet
    • Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Wearing job specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
What Will Put You Ahead:
  • Experience interpreting electrical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Experience or formal training in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical control systems.
  • Experience supporting pre-startup equipment checks and quality assurance activities.
  • Experience applying safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Electromechanical Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Controls, Electrical Power and Controls, Mechatronics Technology, or a related field.
