Position Summary
The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This role involves installing and servicing fuel cells at a specific location, reporting breakdown events, ordering parts, and maintaining fuel cells. The position offers exposure to customer personnel and electric lift truck operators, requiring strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
CoreDuties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
- Execute specialized service procedures, including field retrofits, software and hardware upgrades.
- Provide on‑call and emergency support to customers as required.
- Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support.
- Maintain ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers.
- Report breakdown events, parts ordering, and fuel cell performance.
- Maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480
VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high pressure gas and fueling systems. - Complete administrative duties and documentation: incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance and site documentation.
- Adhere to safety procedures in the field or customer sites.
- Travel as required for business needs.
- Represent Plug Power in a professional manner and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
- Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
- Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
- Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude required.
- Computer and software skills:
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. - Dynamic interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse audiences.

- Technician must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools will be provided by Plug Power.
$24.50 - $28.50 hourly.
